COVID-19 GUIDELINES – YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL

MANDATES FOR ALL

  • Screen yourself and any participating child for symptoms before coming to facilities with the following questions:
    • Have you or the child been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?
    • Are you or the child experiencing a cough, shortness of breath or sore throat?
    • Have you or the child had a fever in the last 48 hours?
    • Have you or the child experienced a new loss of taste or smell?
    • Have you or the child experienced vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours?
  • Screen for fever:
    • People take their own temperatures, and those of their participating or spectating children, before arriving. A normal temperature does not exceed 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Anyone who exhibits COVID-19 symptoms (answers yes to any of the screening questions or who is running a fever) should leave the sporting event immediately, or not go to it, and seek medical care or COVID-19 testing or both.
  • Increase hygiene practices: wash hands frequently, avoid touching your face; practice proper etiquette when coughing or sneezing.

MANDATES FOR ATHLETES

  • Bring a personal water bottle that MUST be labeled with the player's name.
  • Must not share water bottles
  • Must adhere to 6-foot social distancing while on the sidelines.
  • Players are highly encouraged not to touch their mouthguard once it has been placed in their mouth and to sanitize their hands after it has been touched.
  • No-touch rule:  Players should refrain from high fives, handshake lines, and other physical contact with teammates, opposing players, coaches, officials, and fans. A "round of applause" can be used following the game instead of the handshake line.
  • Pre-Game: Warm-up locations will be determined by the field your team is playing on.  Players/Coaches are only permitted in the warm-up location.

MANDATES FOR SPECTATORS

  • Must not enter player areas during both practices and/or games.
  • Must stay off the field of play (outside the fence).  Spectators will not be allowed on the field for 5/6 or 7/8 games this season.  They must remain outside the fence.
  • Must adhere to 6-foot social distancing practices. This includes in and around bleachers for anyone not in the same family. Please use judgment when bringing senior citizens and others with health issues to the games.
  • Must keep 10-feet or more distance from the sideline in locations without bleachers.
  • We will limit the number of spectators at the venue by strongly recommending only two spectators per player be in attendance, if possible.
  • Avoid post-play socializing.
  • Leave the field as soon as reasonably possible.

MANDATES FOR COACHES

  • Must adhere to 6-foot social distancing practices.
  • No-touch rule: Coaches should refrain from high fives, handshake lines, and other physical contact with teammates, opposing players, coaches, officials, and fans. A "round of applause" can be used following the game instead of the handshake line.
  • Initial Coin Toss:  Referee will come to the visiting team’s sideline and the head coach will make the call.
  • Small Field Games:  One coach will still be allowed on the field during the game
  • Big Field Games:  No coaches will be allowed on the field to disagree or argue a call.  Coaches must call the referee to their sideline with all questions and remain 6ft away. This is going to be an adjustment for us all, so all coaches, parents etc. must show good sportsmanship and patience. Arguing judgment calls will not be tolerated.  The referees are going to do the best they can. For the safety of all, we will not allow aggressive arguing with any referee.
  • Pre-Game Warm-Ups: Assigned warm-up locations will be determined by the field the team is playing on.  Players/Coaches are only permitted in the warm-up location.
  • Must ensure that players are following COVID-19 -related prevention measures included herein.
  • Teams must be on opposite sides of the field.
  • All teams must use their own balls and keep them clean in between possessions (wiping them down with a disinfectant wipe).
  • No team snacks/drinks
  • No after game team huddle
  • Avoid post-play socializing.
  • Leave the field as soon as reasonably possible.

MANDATES FOR OFFICIALS

  • Must adhere to 6-foot social distancing practices when interacting with players, coaches, and spectators off the field of play.
  • Must avoid exchanging documents or equipment with players, coaches, or spectators.
  • Initial Coin Toss: Referee will come to the visiting team’s sideline and the head coach will make the call.
